Reflection for 2011

Wow what a year this has been! I’m the leader for St Pius X, 2011. This year has been the best, even thou my class and I had been through bad times and good times, together. I'm also really pleased with myself because my academic level of learning has increased.

Through out the year in Maths I have learnt how to use my operations to solve maths problems. In Writing I learnt to write persuasive writings and other. In Reading I learnt to find information in text easy.

Term 2 was a lot of fun especially when all the yr 8’s and I went on a retreat at St Francis Retreat Centre. We all learnt leadership and communication. I especially learnt to be doers not hearers.

In term 3 our school had a portable pool. During term 3 I became a better swimmer and learnt some safety skills if your lost or hurt.

Last of all, in term 4 my class went on a Activity Week. I had a great fun time with my friends. I learnt to Kayak, Ten Pin Bowling, and have fun! Tomorrow is my last day. I’m really happy to leave with all the happy fun, and sad memories I had at St Pius X Catholic School.

My Reflection on Religious Education

I learnt the golden rule is to treat others the way you would want to be treated. I also learnt who can help me develop my conscience.

Wild Fan Zone

There was shouting and yelling and laughing everywhere. I couldn‘t believe that Baby Bash was singing on stage here in Mangere for free. Baby Bash is a Famous singer. I adore! him. He sang one of his songs (Sugar Sugar) I sang along on the chorus.

It was crowned just in few seconds. Baby Bash was holding a microphone and the other waving the All Blacks flag. He had two dancers one in each side. Lights sparkled brightly with different colours blue, red,and yellow. Everyone went wild, danced to the song, and sang with him.

I couldn‘t stop staring at him. He wore a silver watch, and a silver chain necklace. He had like a sideburns coming down to his chin and one between his nose and mouth. I really loved! his glowing dark green eyes. It was beautiful.

Later on Baby Bash came off stage and started shaking his fans hands. I pushed my self through people. I don‘t know how I managed to get in front? I screamed “Baby! Bash!! HERE”

He looked at me and shook my hand for 2 seconds. He shook my hand again on the other side of the stage. I was shocked.

This week I've learnt how to use tidy numbers to solve my addition and subtraction problems. Example

84 + ? = 104
Now I add 6 to 84= 90
90+ 10=100 Add 4= 104
6 + 10 + 4 = 20

Talking my Netbook home

Taking my Netbook home.


Taking my Netbook home for the first time made me have goosebumps. When I arrived at home I hoped outside the van quickly. I walked really fast, holding my Netbook carefully. I opened the door. I dumped my school bag on the floor, put my Netbook away and went for a quick shower.
After that, I peeked out for my mum. I rushed to my Netbook. A voice gave me a fright. I jumped up. "Don't forget to put your uniform, your bag, and your lunchbox away" mum demanded . " Oooh!! maaan!" I moaned.
“ I’m done mum. I could go on the-” “ NOT YET!.. Now, can you take the empty bottles to the recycle bin” asked mum. “ Anything else you want me to do” “ No but thank you Tuli” said mum.
Later on I got to go on, “ Finally!!

Talent Show

“ Now, Joshua is going to sing Britney Spear’s song” the announcer said.
Everyone applauded. I stretched up to see him. He started to sing. Silence filled the hall. All I could hear was his lovely voice and the music. Suddenly his voice started wavery. His cheeks went red. Tears started to well down from his eyes . turned all watery and his cheeks went red. My heart broke. My body felt weak , and sad.
Surprisingly, Justice jumped up and danced. Other boys and girls joined in the dance at the back of Joshua. The whole crowd started clapping. I clapped too.
What a wonderful support. What a Saint Pius X spirit. I was so proud of everyone.

My highlight

On my first day in the portable swimming pool my highlight was being the one of the first people to feel the water, and to see how deep it was.
It is a huge portable swimming pool . I wanted to stay there forever. But, we had to get out of the pool for the next group.

Maths reflection

On Maths my group and I has been learning about place values with the help of Miss Ana. We’ve been solving problems like 64+ ? =100. We took turns showing how each person solved it by respect.

64 + 6 = 70
70 + 30 = 100
30 + 6 = 36
Answer = 36

Sinking and Floating

During class, room7 and I were experiencing objects if it will Float or Sink?
Everyone in room7 guessed which objects will Float or Sink? At the end I got all of it correct.
Sinking is when you put an object in a bucket full of water and the object will stay in the bottom of the water.
Floating is when you put an object in the bucket of water and it will stay at the top of the water.

Should the courts be closed??

The courts should be open for children to play.
First, when the courts are closed and the field is to muddy to play on, and we can‘t play, outside the classes. Where should we play ?
Secondly, If all the seniors play on the playground it will be all crowded and children can be hurt.
My last reason is, the court has plenty of space to play. I see heaps of games happening in the courts like Netball, King ball,and Dodge ball and children's enjoying themselves.

In conclusion I think students should play on the courts. If the courts are open, they should be used wisely. The games in the courts should not be played violently.

The Ascension

In room7 I have been learning about The Ascension.While I was learning a drew a title page about the Ascension.
The Ascension is when Jesus went to heaven with his father. Jesus said to the disciples that he will send the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Day.

Year 8 Retreat

Just as I arrived at St Francis for retreat with the yr8s a man greeted us kindly, his name was Br Philip. He told all of us some rules before we could walk inside the building. The yr8s and I took our shoes off, that was one of the rules.
I walked inside, at the right hand corner I saw the Chapel (I can‘t wait to go there). We all got to experience around the building and got everything settled. Soon we did fun exciting activities, it was time to eat.
At the end of our retreat I was sad to leave, but our 2nd to last activity was to tell everyone what we were going to take away with us from the experience. I said at Camp is a place where we have fun and play around, but in Retreat is a place where we all pray, and have enough sleep.
When we got ready to leave we all said goodbye to Fr Bernie, Br Philip, and Joanne.:(

Holy Spirit in the Sciptures

I learnt in Religious Education in Room7 to recognize how God was perceived or seen by the people of the Old Testament of the Holy Spirit.

My own prayer

Jesus who died on the cross for our sins.You showed all the virtues in the Bible so that I may be able to spread the good news like you. You were half human-being like me & half God. Thank you for the people who wrote the wonderful stories about God your father & you. 
AMEN.

Best!! Athletics day ever!

St Pius X school had their Athletics day on Friday 18 of March 2011 .


I changed in my sport clothes and got our Geckos banner. Teachers was giving points to house teams. My team sat up. Folded their arms in silence.


Mean while it was almost my turn to race. I felt butterflies in my stomach later on. “The twelve year old boys and girls please walked to the start line”, announced Mrs Pole.


Walking with the other girls and boys feeling nervous. I chose a track and got ready in my position. “ On Your Marks Get set Go!” shouted Mr Gaffney .


I Zoomed off!. My legs ran as fast it could go.At the end of the race I had a big smile. I came first place! I was in the finals with a lot of fast girls. After that I xzchose the same track as before. I Went in the same position. “On Your Marks Get Set Go!!!” shouted Mr Gaffney.


I looked up everyone was already sprinting. I was not paying any attention. I ran and ran.I caught up to two fast runners that was coming first and second. Just a little bit faster I said to myself.


A few fast running steps I got ahead. Past the finishing line. Geckos lifted their fist up in the air shouting for joy.


After that was the cheer off.
First Geckos had to begin. We formed half a circle. Sione Fohe counted us down to start,” One, Two, Three!”


“ Who are, who are, who are we, we are , we are somebody!. Cant you see, cant you guess we’re the team that is the best!!” cheered all the Geckos. Team by team shouted their chant.Some did good and some did OK.


At the end of the Athletics Mr Coakley announced the winners for the best behavior. Also the winners for the races.


“First place for the races are.....GECKOS!!”.... We all jumped up in the sky shouting and screaming.


We sat back down on the tarpaulins . “And the winners for the well best behavior is....AGAIN GECKOS!” shouted Mr Coakley.


I felt so lucky that we won both of them. That was the end of Athletics day. Hope you enjoyed it, like the Geckos did to (:
